OK, most of the tutorials I've seen don't have a picture of the materials - so aside of the skull here's what you'll need: Latex Glue (I used carpet latex from WalMart) cotton (use real cotton - not polyester) a spray bottle for vinegar (it makes it set up faster - thanks Ralis!!) vinegar (duh!) MinWax Wood Stain (I've used mohagany and red cedar) Hair (I put hair on mine, it was my daughters)

OK, you can use anything really..even an expensive skull from Anatomical Chart Company. I used a cheap skull from Pic-n-Save/Big Lots/Whatever, they were colored funky grey and yellow and such. I gave this one a quick spray of black in the eyes and nose and then lightly with white everywhere else. I also cut out a couple of teeth.

This is a layer project so once you have a layer down it'll have to dry. Here's the scientific part. Unroll the cotton, dip in in the latex (it's squishy and if you don't like the feeling of playing in mud wear gloves), shmear it around and stretch out the cotton...the thinner the better and when you think it's done lay it on the skull. When the layer is finished spray it with the vinegar and let dry (the vinegar should react and give it a tacky dry time of 15-20 minutes) If you're going to add hair do it to the last layer

When you've done layering the skin on and you feel it's done you can leave it as is or dry brush on some stain - I used a paper towel. Color until it's done...really...it's also the best way to cook - add stuff until it wants no more.
