Yeah, short story long: creepyKid's bed is a day bed...it used to have a trundle - but no longer. Anyway...I was putting it together: head and foot boards with the back board...I was putting the mattress board on and either CreepyKid pulled the head board or I jiggled the foot board, whichever, (and it really doesn't matter because....) the matress board fell, a good 5-6 inches from the ground on to the top of my naked foot. OUCH! The part that hit (of course) was the slender, knife-like edge of the area that gets bolted so I got a nice cut. I screamed and said a few choice words...boy that hurt. Since it hit the tendedon (luckily missing that ugly, huge, rubbery vein) it made my three smallest toes hurt and hurt up my shin. I got that cut and a big lump on the foot. I finished putting the bed together and limped to the couch for some RICE (OK, so I didn't compress it...but I did the rest) and I did MICE (still with no compression) it really hurt to walk on, but nothing was broken. Well, thanks to all that RICE/MICE I have the small cut and a little discoloration where it hit - but no bruise, my purple badge of courage to show my Mom-wounds! But at least I can (pretty much) walk on it alright. Oh, and thanks to Sis who immediately sent me a text message of "the bed is on my foot." Good to know I can always turn to family when I'm in need of comforting. :-D
